Oof. Looked way better from close up. Oh well.
I'm pretty sure I first saw the idea as an old meme on FurAffinity and decided I had to try it, just for kicks. Drew it up at home, stuck it in my sketchbook, and took it with me to Speedo Sectionals last weekend at IUPUI. I ended up getting to the natatorium really early one day--a couple hours before they even started the warmup session before finals--and realized I had the chance to use it. Kind of a spur-of-the-moment decision, but it worked out well enough. (Eventually--setting this shot up and holding the paper in the right place took forever. At least not many people saw me...)
It turns out to be pretty good practice--for facial shape and angle, especially, but also drawing a neck to accurately connect head and shoulders. I just didn't make the damn thing nearly dark enough. More shading practice it is, then, I suppose.
Reference picture here.
Also pls halp.
